Psoriasis is an inflammatory disease with an estimated prevalence of at least approximately 2–5% worldwide. Classically, this disease attacks the skin, nails and joints. The incidence of ocular symptoms in psoriasis patients is estimated at 8–65% of cases and includes: blepharitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis, scleritis, cataract and dry eye disease. The aim of the study is to review current reports on changes in the eyelids and ocular surfacein patients with psoriasis. Psoriatic lesions may occur in the skin of the eyelids, and chronic inflammation of the eyelids in patients with psoriasis may lead to: madarosis, trichiasis, ectropion and loss of eyelids tissue. In the first part of the study, based on a report of a case of cicatricial ectropion in a patient suffering from psoriasis, the possibleetiology and techniques of surgical treatment of this condition were discussed. The second part of the article presents a current review of the literature regarding ocular surface abnormalities in patients with psoriasis. The latest research confirms a significant relationship between dry eye disease and psoriasis. This medical literature review confirms the need for ophthalmological examinations in patients suffering from psoriasis and the need for further research on the etiopathogenesis of its ophthalmological manifestations.
